Information for Parents
Naviance Family Connection
Zangle Parent Connect
The Polaris Opportunity staff encourages you to be as involved as possible in your student's education.
Weekly
Progress Reports are to be completed every Thursday for all VISTA
students. These progress reports are then to be signed Thursday evening
and then returned to the student's 1st period teacher. Please look for
these weekly reports! This is a great way to keep informed on how your
student is performing weekly in each class in terms of grades, credits,
and behavior. Attendance is also usually noted.
Opportunity
students also have these weekly progress reports available to them.
These reports are located in the main office and may be completed by
the student and the teachers regularly.
To make this process
beneficial, assign consequences or rewards based on these reports. The
student is then motivated to get this paper completed weekly AND to
bring it home to you!
Please contact individual teachers for
more information by using the staff directory. E-mail is a great way of
keeping in touch! You can also contact the Counselor, Miss Lisa
Rockwell, to request a parent conference. She will then set up the
conference to meet in her office and will notify the staff members
involved. At that conference, attendance, grades, credits, and behavior
will be discussed. This is yet another opportunity to stay involved
with your student's education.
Miss Rockwell has been visiting
classrooms regularly keeping the students informed about opportunities
that continuously come their way. Most recently, ROP Books &
Registration forms were handed out. ROP is a year-round
career/technical training program available to all students 15 1/2
years of age or older. The classes yield credit for the students just
by attending the class and are used for elective credit towards a high
school diploma. This is a no-cost program and registration is completed
before the end of each semester (late August, mid December, and early
June).
Social Work Interns are available to any student
needing time to work through any issue. Please see Miss Rockwell,
Counselor, to refer your student for this service.
