ROP
ROP is a great opportunity for all students in a variety of ways. The Spring ROP books and registration forms have been distributed to all Opportunity & VISTA students by the Counselor, Miss Rockwell.

ROP offers year-round career/technical training as part of the public school system in California. This program teaches skills to over 25,000 high school and adult students every year. There are 74 regional occupational programs and centers in California.

Students who are 15 1/2 years and older may participate in this no-cost opportunity. Elective high school credits are earned through attendance and are applied towards a high school diploma. This is a unique opportunity to explore careers and/or learn skills to assist in financing a college education.

Enrollment takes place before every semester (late August, mid-December; early June). Books of class offerings and registration forms are available through the Counseling Office. Many classes are held in the late afternoon, early evening, and on the weekends.

Five ROP facilities and 25 high schools in the local area house ROP classes. Also, more than 600 local businesses support ROP with on-site training for these enrolled students.

The Bridges Career Exploration Computer Program is available to all students in the Polaris Library. Three terminals are equipped with this program. Miss Rockwell, the Counselor, encourages every student to make it a point to stop in and check out this opportunity. Now is the time to be identifying personal interests that equate with certain work careers. This program holds a wealth of information and opportunity to express opinions and to investigate career opportunities.

Social Work Interns assist the Counselor, Lisa Rockwell, in meeting the personal needs of all students here at Polaris Opportunity. The Interns tackle a variety of issues with referred students. Please contact Miss Rockwell to inquire or to refer to this comprehensive district-sponsored program.
